Just last week I had been thinking about how it’d been far too long since I’ve photographed a little one. When I first started doing photography I did a lot of child portraits, but as I’ve become busier with weddings I’ve had to limit the other types of shoots that I can do. BUT I absolutely love photographing babies, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph our little neighbor Emma a few days ago.
Emma is a little doll at almost 3 months old, and I thought her chatter throughout our session was hilarious and endearing…clearly, she has a lot to say.
I love the sneezy face.

She had the most to say when her mamma was near by, absolutely adorable.
We tried a little tummy time, and she did great…but it got old pretty fast, its hard work holding your head up for too long!

Chicago Family Portraits: Gabe + Joel
The same day I did a session with little Vivy, I did one with Gabe & Joel! OH the difference between taking pictures of one little girl compared with two little boys! It was really fun to hang out with them though – to learn about their toys, watch them dance to Christmas music and play on the playground. This first shot is really telling…
I love this shot of Joel, I think its a genuine smile…apparently thats hard to capture with this one!
Aww…cutie.
Lovin’ the brand new cowboy hat, boots and belt from Grandma!

I love how he’s reaching up as high as he can, but still can barely peek over.
They have matching boots, Joel & Woody.
Taking pictures of taking pictures!

Gabe & Joel are the kids of our new neighbors and friends, so it was fun to spend some time hanging out with them…even though they gave me a work out, that’s for sure : )
Chicago Child Portrait: Sweet Vivy
When I knocked on the door for my child portrait session on Saturday morning, this was the sweet face that greeted me…I was smitten instantly! Love those curls and baby-blues.
First we did some Christmas Card shots, and Vivy’s mom Becca had done an amazing job of staging a little scene where Vivy had boxes to open, ornaments to play with and books to read.
Vivy was so surprised by everything, its really fun to see little ones around Christmas time when the joy of the season is brand new!
Oops…she pinched her finger, but even that little unhappy face was too cute to pass up.
Playing with grandma…
OH my goodness, Vivy was adorable dancing to Christmas music with an angel and then this bunny…apparently she learned from Dancing with the Stars – too cute!
Next we went to Vivy’s playroom…
Vivy and her beautiful momma, Becca.
I loved this one instantly.
Playing with a fun treasure chest given to her by her other grandma.
This is Vivy’s sleepy habit, when she gets tired she sucks her thumb and pulls her hair down. This child would have me wrapped around her little finger in no time.

Chicago Child Portrait :: Esmee is One!
This weekend I had the pleasure of working with John Mark, Sheena and Esmee for the second time – this occasion was Esmee’s First Birthday! It is always such a pleasure for me to see people multiple times as babies grow up…and this child shoot was especially fun for me because I haven’t done one in a while! Wedding Season has kept me busy but it was nice to have a little change of pace, I almost forgot how much I enjoy working with the little ones!
Oh…those eyes! She’s such a doll.
Love the two little teeth! Esmee got this rocking horse for her birthday and loved it right away – cowgirl in the making?
I think the name of this book was “That’s Not My Purse!”…apparently, its a shocker!

Time for a wardrobe change before some outside shots…there is something I love about this picture.
This one is an adventurer, I can tell.
Oh, the places you will go Esmee! Happy Birthday!
Chicago Child Photography :: Sweet Sarai
Sarai is such a sweet heart! I always love working with the little ones, they’re just so adorable.
I met with Sarai and her momma Hadassah at the Newberry Library on Saturday. What a beautiful building! We did the first set of shots inside, but unfortunately the library has just started closing earlier on Saturdays…so we couldn’t do any shots with the books. We did some outdoor shots in the square across the street as well. Sarai seemed to like looking at the snow, but touching was a different story…I agree with Sarai, its just too cold!
