Big Red Barn Wedding :: Mitch & Amy

A couple of weeks ago I flew in to Fort Collins, Colorado to photograph Mitch & Amy’s wedding and one of the best NYE parties I’ve ever been to! For real.
I’ve been working on these photos for the past week and dying to share…I absolutely loved the rustic-chic style of the day, and every detail from the couple and their wedding party to the dress, florals and decor was perfect. I’m not going to waste much time with words in this post because I picked so many images to share…I guess I’ll let them do the talking this time!

Amy showed me a picture of her dress a long time ago, its even better in real life…I *loved* it!Amy’s sweet mom, Penny and her sisters Kelda & Holly helped her get dressed.Amy, you are the most beautiful. Truly, truly! The reception was held at the Big Red Barn in Windsor, which is also where we headed to do pre-ceremony photos of the wedding party. This is one of my favorites of Mitch and Amy…Amy put together this really creative & unique element of their decor…a map of her and Mitch’s 5 year journey leading up to their wedding day, highlighting some of the major stops along the way and surrounded by lots of their original love letters to each other.
The ceremony was held at the Covenant Church in Fort Collins, where Amy grew up attending.I love these night shots…and I couldn’t resist using some sparklers at a NYE wedding. The decor was stunning, and so cohesive (cohesive is my favorite)…Amy’s coordinator and florist did a beautiful job pulling all of the elements together.Time to celebrate!
Congratulations again Mitch & Amy! I love you two, can’t wait to hear what ya think : )

This year, in pictures.

Unalakleet Alaska Wedding :: Austen & Kylie

I’m so excited to share this wedding! I’ve photographed weddings in Alaska before, but never in rural Alaska…and never for one of my Alaskan cousins. When Kylie asked if I would come out to Unalakleet (the site of Flying Wild Alaska, for those of you who’ve never heard of it!) I was thrilled. Jamie and I have lots of wonderful friends in Unalakleet, and always look for an excuse to go…this wedding was as good of a reason any!
It was such a challenge for me to choose which photos to include in this post, because I wanted to give a sense of the unique location, but also all of the time and thoughtfulness that was put into the whole day. You think there are a lot of logistics involved when planning a wedding…well, all of that is magnified just a little when the wedding is taking place off the road system. Austen & Kylie’s families really came together to put on a wonderful and beautiful celebration, and thank goodness for sunshine! The First Look, before the ceremony…Austen waiting to see his bride for the first time. What killer dimples, right?!Kylie is beautiful, and I just love this shot of her.I loved the outfits that the wedding party wore…especially the bow ties.I loved the vintage feel of this wedding…and these little jars were the favors filled with home made blueberry jam.An akutaq (or Eskimo Ice Cream) bar……and a candy bar!Austen and Kylie hopped on this four-wheeler and drove to the river, where they then got in a boat and headed out to a cabin for a few nights…such a great send off for these two! Congratulations Austen & Kylie! I’m sorry I kept you waiting for 6 whole days before getting this preview online, but I hope you love every one of them. There are *lots* more coming soon.
Love you two!

Fairbanks Alaska Wedding :: Christine & Justin

Last week Jamie and I traveled to Alaska so that I could shoot a wedding in Fairbanks! Since Jamie grew up in Alaska I’ve had the opportunity to spend lots of time there, and have shot weddings there in the past (in fact, I work locally out of Alaska…so I don’t charge travel fees to shoot weddings there!) but never in Fairbanks. After talking to Christine over the phone and via email for the past year I was thrilled to finally meet her and to see a new place in Alaska.
Beautiful, Christine!
A friend of the family owns a classic car museum in Fairbanks, and was kind enough to allow Christine and Justin the use of 3 cars for the wedding day…Christine and Justin, I’m working on your images this week…but just wanted to share a few to tide you over : )
