Matthew & Alexis :: Stanley Park Couples Portraits

Last week I had the opportunity to photograph my friend Alexis and her boyfriend Matthew in Vancouver. Alexis contacted me a while back and said that she and Matthew just don’t have many really great photos together so they thought it would be fun to book a session with me. I love this kind of portrait session…taking photos just for fun, in a beautiful location. I can also totally understand why Alexis and Matthew don’t have many good photos together, Alexis is into photography as well so she’s probably always the one behind the camera rather than posing for a picture. Jamie and I have the same problem. Either I need to figure out the self timer better, or we need to book a session like this!
We shot in one of my most favorite spots in Vancouver, at Stanley Park. Amazingly we started the day with pouring rain but by the time we started the sun had come out! It was a picture perfect day…the kind of day that makes me wonder why ANYone would want to live anywhere else.
I think this is my favorite shot of the whole day!

Orchard Anniversary Session :: Kristen & Jeremiah

These two are my sister and brother in law! Jamie and I had some work to do in Minnesota last week, and those days happened to fall on Kristen & Jeremiah’s second wedding anniversary. I’m pretty sure (though not positive) that their dream plan for this anniversary was not to spend it with Jamie and I, so I tried to make it up to them a little bit with a cute photo shoot! I love anniversary sessions, and I’ve been daydreaming about a session in an orchard or pumpkin patch…so it was sort of meant to be.
I seriously love these pictures, not only because they’re of family… Fall things just make me happy.
Favorite. (You can try weird stuff when its family, and sometimes it turns out to be really cute!)

This took a lot of tries. I considered turning this into an out-take blog post but I didn’t think Kristen would appreciate that too much…

North Avenue Beach Engagement :: Alex & Karla

I’m so excited to share this engagement session on the blog today! I can’t really believe how amazing our weather has been these past couple weeks in Chicago, so it was perfect timing for Alex & Karla’s engagement session this past weekend. Looking at these shots makes me really look forward to shooting their wedding in Minnesota next summer! Here is a little preview for you…
Chris & Barbara :: Lincoln Park Engagement

Sunday was the picture perfect kind of Fall day that we’ve all been waiting for…which made my engagement session with Barbara and Chris even better. Barbara said she heard someone describe it as Summer spiked with Fall and I thought that was just about right.
We met at the Lincoln Park Zoo (where Chris proposed) and walked around the surrounding area for their shoot. The engagement sessions really are one of my favorite parts of the whole wedding photography process…always a stress free way for couples to get used to being in front of my camera. Chris & Barbara were easy going and fun to hang out with (and a beautiful couple…which never hurts!) and Sunday afternoon made me look forward to their June wedding even more.
